Cooked Asparagus

bushel of fresh asparagus
Salt and
fresh ground pepper
1/4
cup water
1
teaspoon butter
Wash fresh
asparagus in water breaking off bottom ends by hand. Place cleaned spears into 2 quart saucepan. Add water and
butter. Cover and cook on medium heat for 6 to 8 minutes. Sprinkle salt and pepper while
cooking.
Eat as a
vegetable side dish. Optionally, serve over a bed of rice or garlic mashed potatoes.
